Grimes - Nightmusic (Official Video)
The second video from Claire Boucher’s breakout album as Grimes. It doesn’t really quite match up to the Oblivion video to me (recall: Awesome Video alert), but the barren, greywashed landscape she inhabits and all the “hand puppetry” works with the mystery inherent in this song. Plus, she could be doing her taxes in this video, and she’d still be the raddest in all the land. If you haven’t checked out the album, Visions, yet, you should probably get on that.

Grimes - Oblivion
Awesome Video Alert: A motorcross exhibit & a shirtless bro moshing party. How can you not smile for this video? Especially with all of the awesome accessories she sports: oversized headphones, nerdalert backpack, old school boombox. Video aside, Grimes’ debut album, Visions, is already a contender for album of the year in my book. Needless to say, Claire Boucher is just ok thee coolest.

Grimes - Genesis (Yours Truly Session)
I’ve previously posted this new song from Grimes’ upcoming album Visions (release date 2/21) right here. It’s really really good. No joke. Really really. But watch this video of her performing the song live. Then tell me she’s not an impressive talent. I dare you.

I first heard of Claire Boucher (aka Grimes) when I saw her open for Lykke Li at SF’s Regency Ballroom. I remember being impressed enough to go home & google her over googling a 24-hour food delivery service. Any decision made over food demonstrates “impressed.” I have since discovered multiple tracks from this Canadian electro-pop favorite, all of which that have made their way onto my iTunes rotation. Now, she’s preparing for the release of her debut album, Visions, and she’s creating quite the stir on the interveb. Fans of Santogold Santigold, CocoRosie, & fun should definitely check Ms. Boucher out. And if you’re in the SF bay area like me, you may extend this “checking out” to her live performance at the Rickshaw Stop on February 22 as part of the Noise Pop Festival.
